CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A tornado touched down south of Torrington on Friday afternoon. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Chad Hahn is meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. He says the tornado touched down near Yoder just before 4 p.m. and moved northeast.
Kelly Ruiz is spokeswoman for the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security.
Ruiz says her office has received reports of damage to a Torrington motel and three mobile homes. She says power lines are down and officials are urging people to use caution.
Chad Dixon works in advertising at the Torrington Telegram newspaper. He says he and other employees took cover in a basement for about an hour.
Dixon says there was a lot of hail and minor flooding but says he didn't see damage to the town.
