LAS VEGAS (AP) — NV Energy says failure of equipment in the agency's substation is to blame for a morning power outage affecting about 9,800 customers at one time, including many in southwest Las Vegas.
As of mid-afternoon Tuesday the agency's website showed fewer than 100 customers were still lacking power.
Agency spokeswoman Jennifer Schuricht said that at about 9:45 a.m. the number of outages had reached 9,800. Within a couple hours, the number had been cut by two-thirds.
The power outages appeared to be concentrated near the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Russell Road west of Interstate 15.
