DELMONT, S.D. (AP) — From snow to a tornado -- South Dakota is seeing a mix of severe weather. The National Weather Service says law enforcement officials report that a tornado has hit the South Dakota town of Delmont. There's no word on injuries but some buildings are said to have been damaged in the town of about 200 southwest of Sioux Falls. Elsewhere in the state, the weather service says up to 18 inches of snow was on the ground this morning in the Black Hills.
DALLAS (AP) — Stormy weather in Texas has caused some flight delays and cancellations in the Dallas area today. More than 100 flights have been canceled at Dallas-Fort Worth International and at Love Field. Delays were averaging about an hour at DFW and 30 minutes at Love Field, according to the flight tracking website FlightAware.
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — A weakening Tropical Storm Ana has moved ashore near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with top sustained winds of 35 mph. Forecasters expect the unusually early tropical storm to weaken further as it moves over land. Its main effects are expected to be high surf and rip currents along portions of the coastal Carolinas.
WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — More than a decade after the death of trailblazing Air Force General Benjamin Davis Jr., the U.S. Military Academy is honoring the man it once ostracized. When Davis entered West Point in 1932 as its only black cadet, the future Tuskegee Airman spent four years being shunned, rooming alone and eating alone. But now, a cadet barracks being built at West Point will be named for him. Davis Barracks is expected to house cadets starting in January 2017.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — It's still the "Age of Ultron" at the box office. The Avengers sequel is the top film for the second week, raking in an estimated $77 million. It has earned nearly $313 million in just 10 days in theaters. Meanwhile, "Hot Pursuit" failed to make a significant mark at the box office in its debut weekend. The Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara buddy comedy made just over $13 million, according to weekend estimates.
