RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno police say they're conducting a homicide investigation into the death of a homeless man whose body was found near the Truckee River a few blocks from the downtown casino district.

Reno police said in a statement Monday the man was found Saturday morning lying face down with blood around his face.

Officer Tim Broadway says a citizen reported the discovery just before 7 a.m. along the riverside bike path near Lake Street.

The name of the 50-year-old victim has not been released. Paramedics tried to revive him but he was unresponsive and declared dead at the scene.

Broadway says detectives are actively following leads but asked for anyone with information to contact them at 775-334-2188 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.
