MAGNA, Utah (AP) — Utah police say a body found in a suitcase along Interstate 80 west of Salt Lake City is that of a middle-aged woman.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said in a statement Friday afternoon that the woman had long dark hair, a wrist tattoo and had a mastectomy.
Hoyal says an autopsy shows the woman died from a gunshot wound. It was unclear how long body had been there.
State transportation workers stumbled across the large suitcase in a ravine on Thursday.
Police in Provo said earlier Friday that they had ruled out the body as that of a 26-year-old woman who disappeared last month in Provo.
Elizabeth "Elena" Laguna Salgado was last seen on April 16 leaving a language school in Provo.
