SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A man says in a new lawsuit that his face was ravaged by a West Jordan police dog when officers commanded it to attack even though the man had his hands in the air. Lee Hoogveldt (HOUG-velt) claims police investigating a trash burning complaint in 2013 came into his home without a warrant. Police body camera video played at a news conference shows the officer sending the dog to the couch where the man was sitting and the animal closing its jaws over Hoogveldt's face. West Jordan police didn't comment.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Eight people opposed to the Utah County Commissioners' bonding for up to $65 million for a new bus route have filed a petition for a referendum. The county is funding the new route with a federal grant. The Daily Herald of Provo reports one of the petitioners says she is opposed to the Bus Rapid Transit bonding because she believes the federal government is trying to use its money to bribe states.

EDEN, Utah (AP) — Reduced water flow in the Powder Mountain area has led the state Division of Drinking Water to put a halt on Weber County construction until a new water source is approved. The Standard-Examiner reports that an April 22 letter from the state agency asked Weber not to issue building permits for a planned development near a ski resort. The county has already received applications for the proposed subdivision.

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard will deliver an address when he graduates from Weber State tomorrow. Lillard will be one of two student speakers at the Dee Events Center at 8 a.m. Lillard was a two-time Big Sky MVP while at Weber State before being selected No. 6 overall in the 2012 NBA draft. He was the NBA Rookie of the Year that season.
