Mark Madsen invokes individual liberty, limited government and the memory of his grandfather, former Mormon church president Ezra Taft Benson. Madsen unsuccessfully sponsored a bill earlier this year that would have allowed use of edible marijuana products for medical reasons.

Police say two 15-year-old team members reported being hazed on a bus as the team was returning from a match in Farmington.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Spencer Zwick, who remains one of Mitt Romney's closest advisers after being his top fundraiser in the 2012 presidential race, is courting a challenger to U.S. Sen. Mike Lee. Zwick says he's trying to get Provo business executive Alex Dunn to take on Lee in the 2016 Republican primary. Dunn confirms he's considering a run against the first-term senator.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 15-year-old legal battle between Elko County, government officials and environmentalists is back in federal court in Reno in a fight over control of a remote national forest road and protection of a threatened trout. The dispute over the bull trout and the road along the Jarbidge River is one of the most contentious among numerous similar controversies across the West.
