CATANIA, Sicily (AP) — As the search continues for victims of a weekend shipwreck in the Mediterranean, prosecutors have arrested the captain and a crew member of the boat that sank with as many as 900 people aboard. The Tunisian captain and a Syrian crew member found on a rescue boat among 27 survivors. They are charged with favoring illegal immigration, and the captain is also charged with reckless multiple homicide.

HAVANA (AP) — Most trade and investment in Cuba is still illegal. But New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is heading a trade delegation meeting with top Cuban officials to explore ways for New York companies to do business on the communist island despite the longstanding U.S. embargo. Executives from Jetblue, Chobani Greek Yogurt and Pfizer are among the companies heading to a second day of meetings on Tuesday.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Six officers have been suspended. The autopsy says a significant spinal injury led to death. But a week after Freddie Gray was pulled off a Baltimore street and into a police van, authorities say they still don't know how it happened. The city's top police officials, mayor and prosecutors are trying to calm a "community on edge" as the investigation proceeds.

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Officials in Ferguson, Missouri, say they'll replace two saplings recently planted as memorials, including one in the name of 18-year-old Michael Brown. City official say both trees were chopped off at the trunk and concrete plaques placed at their bases were taken. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported the damage was found on Sunday.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The woman who designed the iconic neon sign that's welcomed millions to Las Vegas has died. Betty Willis is credited with designing the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign that sits in a median in the middle of Las Vegas Boulevard south of the Strip. Willis was 91.
