SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Prosecutors say a Salt Lake City police officer was legally justified when he shot and critically wounded a man who pulled out a fake gun during a traffic stop last month. Prosecutors said yesterday that Officer Trevor Hansen thought the gun was real when Salvador Miranda Flores pointed it during a traffic stop.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Three contact lens manufacturers are suing Utah over a new law outlawing minimum prices for contact lenses, Alcon Laboratories, Johnson & Johnson and Bausch & Lomb argue in three separate federal lawsuits that the law is unconstitutional because it benefits Utah-based discount retailer 1-800-Contacts.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A woman accused of posing as a lawyer last year has appeared in a Salt Lake City court on new charges. Twenty-nine-year-old Karla Carbo was re-arrested last week, and the number of charges she faced tripled as state prosecutors took over a widening case. Carbo is jailed in Salt Lake County on $95,000 bond.

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Rockets never trailed in their 117-91 victory over the Utah Jazz last night in the regular-season finale. Houston won the Southwest Division and got the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference when San Antonio lost to New Orleans a few minutes later. Bryce Cotton had 14 points for the Jazz.
