SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Funeral services have been scheduled for former Utah Gov. Norman Bangerter.

Family spokesman Dave Buhler says the funeral will be held at noon Saturday at the LDS Institute Building on the Salt Lake Community College in West Jordan.

A three-hour viewing is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Parkway Stake building in South Jordan.

Bangerter died Tuesday in a Murray hospital after suffering a stroke. He was 82.

He spent five terms as a state representative before he was elected the state's 13th governor in 1984.

He was the first Republican governor elected in 20 years in Utah, and guided the state through tough economic times before he retiring to private life in 1993.
