CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada's unemployment rate is holding steady after experiencing the first monthly uptick in years. The state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation announced that Nevada's jobless rate stayed at a seasonally adjusted 7.1 percent in March. Nevada's unemployment rate has remained flat since January, when the rate ticked upward for the first time in more than four years.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A money committee is reviewing a bill that would dramatically change the Nevada Public Employees' Retirement System. The Assembly Ways and Means Committee is considering a bill that would add a defined contribution option for new employees that would limit pension payouts based on how much money public employees contribute. The existing plan promises employees a specific payout upon retirement.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A man sought in a sex assault investigation barricaded himself inside a Las Vegas home for five hours and was bit by a police dog before being arrested on more than a dozen child sex abuse charges. Las Vegas police say 38-year-old Agustin Baranda faces more than a dozen charges, including sex assault against a child under 14-years-old.
