HONOLULU (AP) — Officials say three people were injured when their small plane crashed at Hilo's airport.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the single-engine Cessna 172 crashed shortly after taking off around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday.
The state Department of Transportation says two males and one female were on board.
Hilo Medical Center spokeswoman Elena Cabatu says two people are in critical condition and one is in stable condition.
There was no fire after the crash. The crash didn't affect other planes at the airport, and all flights are operating as normal in Hilo.
