SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A federal judge has blocked a state judge in Utah from hearing a Tooele County case involving a dispute over road ownership on public land. Judge Clark Waddoups sided with the state of Utah, halting the complaint filed last year by the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance and county resident Michael Abdo. The Salt Lake Tribune reports Waddoups called the suit an attempt at an "end run" around his jurisdiction in a federal case pending since 2012.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Despite the protests of a rancher and rural county, the BLM has returned 160 wild horses to the range in Nevada. The agency returned the horses to the Fish Creek Herd Management Area (HMA) near Eureka last week after being cleared to do so by the Interior Board of Land Appeals.
ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A Vietnam War veteran says he's surprised over the reason for the denial for a personalized license plate. Arnold Breitenbach of St. George sought the letters CIB-69, representing his Combat Infantryman's Badge and the year he was awarded the Purple Heart. The Spectrum newspaper of St. George reports the DMV cited state regulations prohibiting the number 69 because of its sexual connotations.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Logan cancer treatment clinic has been fined $175,000 for using prescription drugs not approved for commercial distribution in the United States. A federal magistrate also placed the Cache Valley Cancer Treatment and Research Clinic on probation for six months. Court documents say the clinic received "misbranded" drugs from a Canadian company.
