FAIRDALE, Ill. (AP) — A storm system that left one person dead and seven injured in northern Illinois is now threatening parts of the Atlantic Coast. The storm yesterday brought high winds and rain to east Texas, ripping off a church rooftop and damaging a nursing home. And a 67-year-old woman was killed in the small town of Fairdale, Illinois when a tornado ripped through. In Fairdale, officials say up to 20 homes are destroyed, the power is out and a shelter has been set up at a nearby high school.

FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — Jurors in Fall River, Massachusetts, begin a fourth day of deliberations today in the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez. Jurors have spent nearly 16 hours considering whether to convict Hernandez of the June 2013 killing of semi-pro player Odin (OH'-dihn) Lloyd.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — The suspected Pakistani mastermind in the Mumbai, India terror attacks in 2008 is a free man for now. His attorney says the suspect (Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi) was released from a jail near Islamabad, Pakistan today. A Pakistani court first ordered his release March 13, but there was mounting pressure on the country to more actively confront Islamic militants. He's one of seven suspects on trial in Pakistan in connection with the attacks that killed 166 people.

LONDON (AP) — Environmental officials in London say dirty air from Europe and dust from the Sahara are to blame for smog that's coating parts of Britain today. Officials say air pollution is "high" across much of the country and could reach the top designation of "very high" in southeast England. In London, haze is clouding the view of landmarks such as Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament from atop the Shard, Britain's tallest building.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Lauren Hill, a freshman at an Ohio university who fought an inoperable brain tumor to play college basketball died today at a hospital. She was 19. Hill's fight to not let her diagnosis dictate her final days rallied her Mount St. Joseph University team behind her and persuaded the NCAA and others to move up her team's season opener to allow her a chance to play. She made two layups in the opening game. She also helped to raise more than $1.5 million for research into cancer.
