EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State University police are planning to use body cameras.
University spokesman Jason Cody told MLive.com (http://bit.ly/1CkPd3X ) the East Lansing school placed an order a few months ago for 85 cameras but hasn't received them. Cody says police haven't determined policies for camera use and storage of videos.
East Lansing police announced in November that they were exploring the idea of getting body cameras. Police in Lansing also are expected to order body cameras.
Police at Eastern Michigan University and Northern Michigan University are among campus departments in Michigan that use them.
A number of other Michigan departments are adding body cameras or considering the equipment. President Barack Obama has promoted the use of body cameras by police after last year's shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
