SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The man who used top-secret documents leaked by Edward Snowden to write about global surveillance programs for a British newspaper will speak at the University of Utah today. Lawyer and journalist Glenn Greenwald will hold a question and answer session on this afternoon before a 7 p.m. lecture. He is providing the keynote address during the university's "Secrecy Week," which explores government surveillance in the United States.

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — An Ogden man says the city is demanding that he remove the cardboard castle he built for his kids. The Standard-Examiner reports that Jeremy Trentelman constructed the box fort in his front yard with his 3-year-old son. Trentelman said he came home last week to a notice telling him to remove the "waste materials or junk" within 15 days or pay a $125 fine. The code enforcement office says it received an anonymous complaint.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Democratic state Sen. Jim Dabakis has announced that he will run for mayor of Salt Lake City this year. Dabakis says he decided to run to make a larger impact than he can in the overwhelmingly Republican statehouse.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake City has five new temporary parks created by artists. The distinctly different spaces feature landscaping, flowers and seating. They are located along Main Street from South Temple to 200 South. The nonprofit Downtown Alliance says the 8-by-20-foot wide spaces on sidewalks are designed to encourage people to explore the city on foot.
