The cavernous Holy Sepulcher church in Jerusalem was packed with worshippers today. Orthodox Christians, who follow a different calendar, were marking Palm Sunday with processions.
MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Alexander Pama, who heads the disaster-response agency in the Philippines says it's better for authorities to receive criticism from vacationers for a turbulence that did not happen than to risk casualties. This after Tropical Storm Maysak, downgraded from typhoon status, hitting the Philippines' northeastern coast, driving away thousands of Lenten holiday vacationers and tourists but causing no casualties. Pama praised cooperation with evacuation orders.
PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Authorities say a rejected marriage proposal triggered gunfire that killed 10 members of a family in Pakistan. Years earlier, authorities say the same suspect killed four others over the same woman but was never arrested. The dead today include the woman he wanted to marry. Officials say Gul Ahmed is still on the loose.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts authorities say they are investigating a homicide in Cambridge after a duffel bag with human remains was found. More remains of the same victim were found in an apartment building. One person is under arrest.
BERLIN (AP) — French and German prosecutors now have little doubt that 27-year-old co-pilot Andreas Lubitz intentionally slammed a Germanwings airliner into the French Alps, killing 150 people. There is growing evidence that his actions weren't just a split-second decision but the result of days of planning. The revelations have raised questions about who knew what, when, and whether Lubitz could have been stopped.
