GARISSA, Kenya (AP) — Survivors and relatives have given harrowing accounts of the siege in Kenya by Islamic extremists who killed 147 people early Thursday at a college,. Most of the victims were non-Muslim students. Their bodies were taken to Nairobi, where relatives overcome by grief were assisted by the Red Cross. The attack was carried out by al-Shabab, which has launched previous attacks in Kenya.

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — The Saudi-led coalition trying to halt the advance of Shiite rebels in Yemen have airdropped weapons to besieged fighters in a southern port city Mukalla today. Yemen is in turmoil because of competing terrorist groups and sectarian violence. Its president fled the country because of the threat of Shiite rebels known as Houthis (HOO'-theez).

PARIS (AP) — There's more evidence that Germanwings co-pilot Andreas Lubitz intentially flew his plane toward a mountain in the French Alps. Investigators say information from the flight data recorder shows that Lubitz repeatedly accelerated the plane, after first using the automatic pilot to put the aircraft into a descent.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A mother and child remain missing after being swept into a flooded creek in eastern Kentucky. State police say the two were stranded in their vehicle in high water. Emergency crews had to make more than 160 rescues farther west in the Louisville area. Meanwhile, thousands lost power in south central Kansas because of winds that reached nearly 90 mph.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Seven San Francisco police officers accused of sending racist and homophobic text messages have been suspended and face firing. Chief Greg Suhr described the messages as "despicable" and included hate speech.
