NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Police say they found a dead child inside a North Las Vegas home while investigating abuse of a 4-month-old infant.

North Las Vegas police Officer Aaron Petty said they arrested a 17-year-old girl for child abuse after investigators visited a Las Vegas hospital Wednesday where the infant was in critical condition.

The girl's name has not been released because she is a juvenile.

Petty says the investigation led officers to a home on Wood Thrush Place north of the Interstate 215 beltway on Thursday morning where they discovered a dead child. Petty says no one else was inside.

Police aren't saying how the girl is related to the injured infant and dead child. Police also haven't revealed the genders of the victims or the age of the child who died.
