This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

It's a true mark of a company's quality of work when their main source of new business comes through word of mouth, especially when these are great quality leads. That's the case for Kevin Riley of Sun Country Awnings & Construction in Washington.

Sun Country Awnings & Construction provides patio covers and fabric awnings. This year marks the company's 21st year of business, and they've grown to include 8 employees. In that time, Kevin says Sun Country has built 4,000 plus patio covers. But what he's most proud of is how he's never had any formal complaints, he has an A-plus rating with the Better Business Bureau and has never had anybody bounce a check.

Patio covers are a luxury item, and for years, Kevin didn't bother with the fabric covers. Then, because of the demand, he found a company that fit what he wanted for awnings. So, he took a special training to learn how to install them, which was smart because since 1998, fabric covers have been 25 percent of his business.

Prior to starting his business, Kevin's career path was quite different. He was a police officer for 3 years, spent years in construction, and, on a whim, decided to moonlight as a handyman. Through that business, he uncovered a desire for patio covers, and he began offering them. By 1997, business was so strong he was able to focus 100 percent on patio covers and founded Sun Country Awnings and Patio Cover.

Kevin has never stood still when it came to growing his business. First, it was adding the fabric choices. Then, he went to school to learn welding. Now, Sun Country can also build steel carports at apartment complexes and office structures. And Sun Country keeps busy all year round.

Sun Country Awnings & Construction has been a part of St. George for 21 years, and has grown to do a lot of work for local, state and federal government agencies. Plus, they usually have a couple awning projects in the Parade of Homes every year.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
