ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — An Idaho man has been arrested in the strangling death of a Southern California boy after DNA testing linked him to the slaying 33 years ago. The Orange County Register reports Kenneth Rasmuson was arrested Friday. He will be extradited to California to face murder charges in the 1981 killing of 6-year-old Jeffrey Vargo.
GENESEE, Idaho (AP) — City officials in northern Idaho say they voted illegally four times over the past year. The Lewiston Tribune newspaper reports that the Genesee city councilors acknowledged their actions during a special meeting Thursday. Councilor Art Lindquist says the city attorney alerted the panel they violated Idaho's open meeting law after hearing members discuss the email vote in a prior meeting.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A federal appellate court has dismissed the appeal of a man who kidnapped, tortured and killed a northern Idaho boy after killing several of members of his family. Joseph Edward Duncan III faces the death penalty for the 2005 murder of 9-year-old Dylan Groene. He also faces several life sentences for the murder of three family members and the kidnapping of his 8-year-old sister.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities have arrested a man accused of kicking a Boise police officer. Police say officers initially contacted 35-year-old Ezeikel Ward of Nampa about an illegally parked truck, but a records check showed he had a failure-to-appear warrant out of Canyon County. When police tried to take him into custody Thursday, he allegedly kicked an officer in the leg.
