BOSTON (AP) — Boston's police commissioner says an officer who was shot during a motor vehicle stop "is in tough shape" Officials say the suspect opened fire on police Friday evening and struck the officer just below his right eye. The officer is in critical condition in an induced coma fighting for his life at a hospital. Other officers at the scene shot and killed the suspect.
UNDATED (AP) — The victims of an air crash in the French Alps are being remembered. A church service in their honor was held Friday night in Duesseldorf, Germany, where the Germanwings Airbus was headed when, according to authorities, the co-pilot crashed the jet into a mountainside Tuesday, killing all 150 people aboard. Catholic and Lutheran churches organized the service.
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — France will propose a U.N. Security Council resolution in the coming weeks that could present a framework for negotiations toward resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. That word comes a day after the U.N.'s top Mideast envoy told the council it should present a framework for talks that "may be the only way to preserve the goal of a two-state solution."
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A venture capital firm did not discriminate or retaliate against a female employee in a case that debated gender imbalance and working conditions for women in Silicon Valley. That's the decision of a jury in San Francisco which reached the verdict after three days of deliberations in a lawsuit filed by Ellen Pao against Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
BAIKONUR, Kazakhstan (AP) — A Soyuz capsule carrying two Russians and an American has docked with the International Space Station. The American and one of the Russians will spend 342 days aboard the orbiting laboratory. The lengthy stay is aimed at measuring the effects of a prolonged period of weightlessness on the human body. The other Russian will spend six months in space.
