ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — Tuition at Utah's public colleges and universities will increase by just over 3 percent in the coming academic year.
The Utah State Board of Regents on Friday approved an average increase of 3.06 across the state's system during a meeting at Dixie State University in St. George.
Tuition costs for the 2015-16 school year will increase by 3 percent at seven of the state's eight public institutions. The cost of attending the University of Utah will rise by 3.5 percent.
The board says the approved rates are lowest average increase since 1999.
The Board of Regents says one of the organization's objectives is keeping tuition low so that students do not delay education because of finances.
