TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State University officials have suspended the campus' chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity for allegedly violating a 2013 campus probation agreement.
ISU spokesman Dave Taylor tells the Tribune-Star (http://bit.ly/1HKjr7e ) the school is investigating whether the Zeta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega violated guidelines regarding alcohol and social events. He says he cannot comment on specifics, pending completion of the investigation.
The suspension order calls for the chapter to refrain from any activities as a group "pending final reviews and determinations" on its future by the university and the Alpha Tau Omega national headquarters.
ISU's Alpha Tau Omega chapter vice president Michael Kruer says fraternity members didn't expect the suspension "at all." He says the chapter is now awaiting the decision on its fate.
