LaFave Gallery
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Kathy LaFave may not be an artist, but her true calling is having an eye for displaying art in a way so people can fully enjoy it. And that's only part of the reason she's having so much fun operating her Springdale business, LaFave Gallery.
It's not just the art that attracts visitors to the gallery. Sometimes people stop in just to see the beautiful building, which Kathy had custom designed as the home of LaFave Gallery. The designer spent many hours sitting on the lawn to watch the sun rise and set, which inspired him to design windows so anyone standing on the lawn could still see the beautiful Southern Utah mountains, which enhances your experience as a customer.
Jim Jones, a well-known Southern Utah oil painter, once said some people were born to paint, but he told Kathy she was born to sell art. She has a way of working with artist and customer to make everybody visiting LaFave Gallery feel comfortable and connected.
For Kathy, it's not just selling artwork; it's about believing in what she sells. LaFave Gallery represents over 30 local and regional artists. Here you'll find names like Kate Starling, one of the state's top-selling artists, Lyman Whittaker, Frederick Stephens and Doug Adams. Some of the artists now displaying their work at LaFave Gallery previously had their own galleries and now show it here, like Karla Player and David Pettit.
At LaFave Gallery, Kathy seeks out and brings in beautiful pieces of art customers and visitors will love. Sometimes her most important job is to create a personal connection to help someone feel okay to buy the piece of art they fell in love with.
Prior to owning LaFave Gallery, Kathy's background was in managing businesses. She used to own a hotel, once managed a law firm and was even the general manager for another gallery, so she's no stranger to art. She ran a chocolate shop for a few years before she sold it. She loves connecting with people.
For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
