SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Salt Lake City Public Library is using an online survey to help shape a proposed pilot program that would keep the facility open around the clock. Library director John Spears says he believes the effort is the first of its kind in the United States. The library will review results at the end of April and evaluate factors like cost and safety before taking steps to finalize the program.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A national survey shows Salt Lake City ranks seventh highest of the nation's top 50 metropolitan areas for the percentage of adults who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. The Gallup survey, released Friday, found 4.7 percent of Salt Lake City residents identify as LGBT. San Francisco ranked highest at 6.2 percent.

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — A 57-year-old man shot and killed himself in West Valley City in what police are calling an accident. Investigators say the man was drinking with friends Friday night at a home when he showed a gun to them. He took the magazine out of the gun and pulled the trigger while pointing it at his throat, not realizing there was a bullet in the chamber.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A bee attack during a baseball game in St. George forced players and spectators to flee and sent one man to the hospital. St. George Fire Capt. Robert Hooper says the man was stung between 200 and 300 times Friday morning. Several other people were treated for stings at the scene.
