ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — JoJo Widi, of Cheyenne, will represent Wyoming in this year's Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Widi won the Wyoming spelling bee on Saturday in Rock Springs.
Contestants from across the state who competed in written and oral rounds.
To reach the State Bee, spellers had to qualify by winning their school and county spelling bees.
Twenty-nine of the 64 students who enrolled in the State Spelling Bee qualified for the oral competition, which lasted 19 rounds.
Beckett Lucas-Griffin, of Jackson, placed second, followed by Yulisa Mendez, of Big Horn County.
Widi will compete with top spellers from across the country in the national bee in Washington in June.
