NEW YORK (AP) — The ministry of evangelist and megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar is no longer seeking donations to buy a luxury jet valued at more than $65 million.
Last week, a video on the website of Creflo Dollar Ministries asked people to help the ministry buy a Gulfstream G650 airplane. In the video, Project G650 manager Rick Hayes said, "If all of our existing partners were to sow $300 each, from all over the world, we'd be able to acquire this jet in a very, very short period of time."
That video has since been taken down, and Dollar's publicist, Juda Engelmayer, now says "there is no campaign for a jet." He says the evangelist is taking commercial flights.
Englemayer adds that the suspended fund-raising campaign "is not representative" of what Creflo Dollar stands for.
Dollar is one of the most prominent African-American preachers based around Atlanta.
