BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Much of Idaho has a lower-than-normal snowpack due to sparse precipitation so far this year combined with above average temperatures in the last month. But state and federal weather and water experts say water stored from last year should help carry most irrigators through the growing season. Idaho Department of Water Resources staff hydrologist Dan Stanaway says there's still plenty of water.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho Falls man has been sentenced for filing false car insurance claims. The Idaho attorney general's office says Robert MacNeilage was sentenced Thursday to a treatment and education program at a prison, with an underlying prison term of two to eight years. Prosecutors say he intentionally damaged two vehicles.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise police say a 36-year-old man struggled with an officer and then killed himself during a traffic stop yesterday. The Idaho Statesman reports that an officer pulled the man over about 4 a.m. and determined he had a warrant. When a second officer arrived, the man stepped out of his vehicle and said he had a gun. An officer struggled with the man. Police say the officer stepped back, and the man shot himself in the chest.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Yellowstone National Park is marking the end of its winter season with the last of the groomed roads closing to snowmobile and snow coach traffic this weekend. A handful of park roads closed earlier this month. The remaining stretches of roads will be closed to the public at 9 p.m. today.
