LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles man is facing criminal charges after a 9-year-old boy who lives with him took a loaded gun to school.
Aaron Martin of Canoga Park was charged Thursday with misdemeanors, including keeping a loaded gun where a child might get it. He could face a year in jail and a $5,000 fine if convicted.
Authorities say the boy took a .40-caliber Glock handgun with 11 rounds of ammunition to his Tarzana school on March 4 to show classmates.
Martin isn't the gun's registered owner but prosecutors say it was under a dog bed in the home he shares with the boy, the child's mother and sister.
The mother is charged with felony child endangerment.
Martin had no phone listing. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
