PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — A golden eagle is recovering after being struck and injured by a truck in Summit County.

Dalyn Marthaler of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah says the eagle was in stable condition after being brought there Thursday.

Marthaler told the Deseret News (http://bit.ly/1GcWWDY ) it would take at least eight weeks for the bird to be "ready to go" after it undergoes surgery.

Sheriff's deputy Buck Bufton, who captured the eagle with the help of three other people, says it appears the raptor was hit by the truck while it was moving across a road in the Browns Canyon area.

Bufton says the eagle became "pretty calm" after he covered it with a coat and took it into his arms.

Its surgery and food will be covered by donations.
