HAILEY, Idaho (AP) — A $1.6 million project to repair the roof on the Blaine County Courthouse in the central Idaho town of Hailey is done except for some minor painting and calking.
The Idaho Mountain Express reports (http://bit.ly/1JVNmeW) that building inspectors on Tuesday issued a permanent certificate of occupancy.
Employees had been in the building since early January on a temporary occupancy permit.
The courthouse built in 1884 is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Repairs on the roof became more expensive when workers started the project and discovered water damage as well as structural problems with cracked trusses.
The finding of asbestos also increased costs.
County Operations Director Char Nelson says the new roof should help the building last another 130 years.
