Truckers, cyclists and parents waved signs advocating cleaner air and seatbelt use while a slate of legislators and local officials spoke about the need for more transportation funding.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Salt Lake City police officer who was put on leave and later resigned after he objected to riding in the motorcycle brigade at the front of last year's gay pride parade says his rights were violated. Eric Moutsos, a Mormon, says he felt uncomfortable because of his religious views. Police say any hint of personal bias can affect an officer's ability to do his job.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A childhood friend of a Utah doctor accused of killing his ex-wife says the doctor blamed his ex for ruining his life. Klaus Fiebig testified today in John Brickman Wall's murder trial, saying the doctor's life seemed centered around his hate for ex-wife Uta von Schwedler.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Republican state House leaders are considering allowing a state commission to pick a location to build a new prison instead of leaving the decision with the Legislature. Kaysville Republican Rep. Brad Wilson says that if the Prison Relocation Commission makes the decision, lawmakers will not have to be called into a special session this summer to deal with the issue.
