LOS ANGELES (AP) — Labor Secretary Thomas Perez says that dockworkers will return to West Coast ports Saturday evening. In an interview with The Associated Press, Perez said that both the dockworkers' union and their employers agreed to resume weekend work now that they've reached a new contract after nine months of negotiations.

TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) — It's still unclear what caused an explosion at an oil refinery outside Los Angeles. Exxon Mobil has no timetable for when gasoline production will resume. The refinery produces about 8 percent of California's gas. Production was halted by Wednesday's blast.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — One of the world's tallest residential towers caught fire early Saturday in Dubai, sending bright yellow flames several stories high, but there were no reports of casualties. Debris from the fire cluttered nearby streets after the blaze appeared to be extinguished.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Defense Secretary Ash Carter is making his international debut with a visit to Afghanistan. Carter will see American troops and commanders, meet with Afghan leaders and evaluate whether U.S. withdrawal plans are too risky for Afghan security.

MINERAL POINT, Wis. (AP) — Cheese lovers are already lining up to lock in a nibble when a Wisconsin cheese-maker releases a 20-year-old cheddar this summer. Hook's Cheese in Mineral Point created a stir in the cheese world in 2009 when it debuted a 15-year-old cheddar. John Hook set aside another 500 pounds for this year.
