LAS VEGAS (AP) — Federal inspectors say tiger pens kept by magician Dirk Arthur were in disrepair and were chewed on the edges.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals called Wednesday for the Riviera hotel and casino to end Arthur's "Wild Illusions" show.
The Department of Agriculture's routine inspection of Arthur's Illusioneering Inc. on Jan. 12 says the pens for tigers "Frosty" and "Carmen" were splintered and notes similar issues were found 11 months prior.
Representatives for the Riviera had no comment. In a statement sent by his publicist Dirk Arthur commended the USDA inspectors in Las Vegas and said that anytime an issue is brought to his attention, he gets on it immediately.
His publicist didn't confirm if the pens had already been fixed.
