SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah prison officials confirm police are investigating the fatal stabbing of an inmate in a cell at the state prison in Uinta.
Prison officials say a fight broke out between two inmates in the cell about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.
One inmate was fatally stabbed. The other was taken to the prison infirmary.
Utah Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Adams said in a statement the prison was placed under a lock down and all normal activities have been canceled.
She says the Unified Police Department is investigating and will release any additional information as it becomes available.
