DENVER (AP) — Colorado State University governors say their chancellor since 2012 is stepping down and they will announce plans to find his successor before month's end.

In a statement released Monday by the CSU System's Board of Governors, Mike Martin says it's time to wind down a long career in education. The former chancellor at Louisiana State University and New Mexico State University will stay on in Denver in a part-time emeritus position after his final day as chancellor on March 1.

The board adds it will announce details on its search for a new chancellor before Martin steps down.

The system's institutions are CSU, CSU-Pueblo and CSU-Global Campus.
