NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A Yale student has been admitted to a hospital with a probable case of bacterial meningitis.
The university said in a statement that it was working with local and state health officials to identify and offer preventative treatment to any other people who had close or extended contact with the student.
The school initiated its emergency protocol and set up a telephone hotline for those seeking additional information.
Early symptoms of bacterial or meningococcal disease can include high fever, headache and stiff neck.
