SALEM, Utah (AP) — Authorities have arrested a Salem woman they say stabbed her husband in the back after a marital fight turned violent. The Daily Herald reports that 23-year-old Gabrielle Beard was arrested after police found her husband bleeding outside their home in Salem. Efforts to reach Beard were unsuccessful. She doesn't appear to have an attorney yet.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A woman who was ordered to return her husband's body to the Navajo Nation says she'll continue fighting to have him buried in Northern California. A tribal court on the nation's largest Indian reservation ruled last month against interfering with burial plans in place by DeeRoy Spencer's family in northeastern Arizona. The Vietnam veteran died last month in New Mexico. He was 68.
RICHFIELD, Utah (AP) — A minor earthquake shook parts of south-central Utah overnight but there have been no reports of injuries or property damage. The University of Utah Seismograph Station says the quake with a magnitude 3.0 hit in the Sevier Valley. Scientists say that since 1962, a total of 32 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater have occurred within 16 miles of the epicenter of yesterday's quake.
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — The Utah Avalanche Center has issued a warning for a northern stretch of the Wasatch front to the Idaho border after a series of large avalanches were reported in the mountains northeast of Logan. An avalanche specialist told The Herald Journal the biggest snow slides were reported Wednesday afternoon in the Tony Grove area of the Wasatch Cache National Forest after about 10 inches of new, heavy snow fell.
