CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval visits a Carson City elementary school today to announce a plan to expand the school breakfast program. The Republican governor first announced in his State of the State address that he would propose creating a $2 million program designed to expand school breakfasts throughout Nevada.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Students, parents and teachers are expected to rally in front of the Capitol in Carson City today to show support for school choice measures. School choice proponents say parents should have the option and financial support to pick a charter school, private school or home school setting if they're not satisfied with traditional public schools.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Sentencing is scheduled today for a 25-year-old Saudi Arabian air force sergeant who was found guilty of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy at a Las Vegas Strip hotel. A jury found Mazen Alotaibi (MAH'-zen ah-loh-TAH'-bee) guilty in October 2013 of having sex with the boy at the Circus-Circus hotel after a night drinking cognac at a strip club on New Year's Eve 2012.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Officials say evidence will be aired Friday in the police slaying last summer of a man who authorities say pulled a pellet gun while running from officers in North Las Vegas. The fact-finding hearing in the death of 34-year-old Kenneth Johnson is scheduled for the Clark County Commission chambers at the county government center.
