CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — About 100 green sea turtles found stunned on Texas beaches during recent cold weather have been warmed and will be returned to the Gulf of Mexico.
Officials with Padre Island National Seashore near Corpus Christi plan to release the reptiles Wednesday afternoon.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend. Park entrance fees will be waived for people attending the release of the dozens of rescued turtles.
A stunned sea turtle is one that has become hypothermic due to chilly weather.
