LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former Las Vegas pharmacy employee has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges in two armed robberies, including a murder count that could get him the death penalty if he's convicted of killing a clerk he once worked with. A state court judge scheduled a status check Feb. 5 for William Ackerman II.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Clarion Hotel and Casino off the Las Vegas Strip is expected to collapse in an early-morning Feb. 10 implosion. A Clark County spokesman says the 200-room 12-story hotel sits between the Las Vegas Strip and the convention center in the shadow of the Riviera and Encore hotel casinos. There have been 12 casino-hotel implosions in Las Vegas since 1993.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin met fans at the annual Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show in Las Vegas, ahead of a planned side trip to serve wild boar chili to homeless people. The Sportsman Channel says the 2008 vice presidential candidate and host of the network's "Amazing America with Sarah Palin" would host a Hunt.Fish.Feed event at the Salvation Army in downtown Las Vegas.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Sen. Dean Heller is urging the National Football League to quickly address possible cheating after balls used in a weekend championship game were found to be underinflated. Heller's statement came after news that game balls used when the New England Patriots beat the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday were 2 pounds per square inch under regulations. Softer footballs are generally considered easier to catch.
