PARIS (AP) — French police are searching for a 26-year-old Frenchwoman of North African origin in connection with this week's terror attacks in France. Police think she might have information about an Islamic extremist cell that her common-law husband may have belonged to. Police shot him dead yesterday during a hostage standoff at a kosher grocery store in Paris. Turkish authorities tell The Associated Press that the widow is believed to have passed through Turkey recently and may now be in Syria.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Food and Drug Administration says strains of listeria found on surfaces inside a California apple packing facility match listeria bacteria found in 32 people sickened across the country, including at least three who died. This week the company, Bidart Bros., recalled all shipments of Granny Smith and Gala apples that came from its Shafter, California, packing facility in 2014. The illnesses and deaths have been linked to the consumption of caramel apples.
WYE MILLS, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police say five people are dead after a Virginia family's car collided with a tractor-trailer in Queen Anne's County. Police say three adults, two children and an unborn child were killed in the crash about early this morning in Wye Mills. A truck driver from Wilmington, Delaware was injured in the crash.
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Four people have been killed in a crash in central Califorinia. The Higheway Patrol says a van carrying farm workers collided with a semi-truck near Fresno yesterday evening. Police say the men who died were not wearing seatbelts.
GALESBURG, Mich. (AP) — Both sides of Interstate 94 in southwestern Michigan remain closed as crews remove acid and tow away vehicles stuck in an extraordinary pileup on the snowy highway. State police say 193 vehicles were involved in a series of crashes in Kalamazoo County yesterday, including a truck whose cargo of fireworks exploded. Police say cold weather had made the job harder.
