LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Southern Nevada Health District has logged its first case of active tuberculosis this year.
District spokeswoman Stephanie Bethel said Thursday that it's unclear when the person at Desert Oasis High School was diagnosed with tuberculosis.
Symptoms include a persistent cough, chest pain, weakness, fatigue, loss of appetite, fever and chills.
Bethel declined to release any other information about the person. She says the person is being treated.
Southern Nevada typically logs 85-100 cases of active tuberculosis annually.
Health officials say anyone who has spent time with a person diagnosed with or suspected to have active tuberculosis should get tested. It can spread through coughing or sneezing.
