CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Now that three former state court judges are operating as the Nevada Court of Appeals, it's going to be up to Gov. Brian Sandoval to appoint three new judges to replace them in their former positions.
The process is expected to take more than two months.
The Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection announced Wednesday it'll accept applications through Jan. 28 for seats formerly held by elected judges Jerome Tao and Abbi Silver in Clark County and Michael Patrick Gibbons in Douglas County.
Attorneys with 10 years' experience including two years in Nevada are eligible.
The commission will conduct background checks and public interviews in February and March before listing three finalists for each seat for Sandoval.
Appointees will be paid $160,000 and face a retention election in 2016.
