PROVO, Utah (AP) — Officials in Provo have selected a symbol to fly on the city's flag.
The decision Tuesday came after years of discussion and vetting from experts worldwide.
The new flag will feature the city logo on a field of blue. It will replace the current flag that has a white field and a rainbow bar with "Provo" written above it.
The Daily Herald (http://bit.ly/1w1jvEW ) reports that the debate over the flag had been contentious at times, with some residents saying it wasn't worth the time spent on it.
Mayor John Curtis says he's grateful for the thick skin he developed in the process.
The first Provo flag was introduced in 1965.
City officials had been seeking a simple, unique representation of the northern Utah city.
