EMERY, Utah (AP) — A West Jordan police officer who had been missing since Tuesday has been found dead in Sevier County.
West Jordan police say Officer Jedediah "JR" Steadman's truck was found Sunday morning at the base of a cliff west of Emery and he died at the scene.
Investigators say it appears he missed a turn, went off the road and over a cliff. An investigation is continuing.
The 34-year-old Steadman was last seen Tuesday when he drove away from his home after an argument with his wife.
KUTV reports Steadman was a seven-year veteran of the force and was due to be promoted to detective.
The West Jordan Police Department issued a statement saying it will "warmly remember Officer Steadman for his many years of dedicated service."
