SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State troopers say a man in his 50s has died after he crashed his car into an SUV parked on the side of the road just outside of a Salt Lake City-area canyon.
The Utah Highway Patrol says two cars slid off westbound Interstate 80 near the mouth of Parley's Canyon around 11 p.m. Monday. A driver in an SUV pulled over to check on them.
While the SUV driver was out of her vehicle, another car traveling west out of the canyon crashed into the parked SUV.
The man driving that car died in the crash.
No one else was injured.
Troopers say the man was wearing his seatbelt and road conditions and speed may have played a role in the crash.
The man's identity has not been released.
