DETROIT (AP) — A 16-year-old Detroit boy has died after being shot in the head Christmas Day while he and friends played with a gun.
The Detroit News and WDIV-TV report that the teen was taken off life support Friday at an area hospital and that a 19-year-old has been arrested.
The 16-year-old was shot about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at a home in the city's historic Virginia Park neighborhood, about three miles north of downtown.
Police say the teen and friends ages 19 and 17 were in the basement, and it wasn't immediately clear who pulled the trigger.
Officer Jennifer Moreno told the newspaper that both friends were questioned Thursday and that the gun was brought into the home by one of the 16-year-old's friends.
