SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City police have arrested two murder suspects in a fatal shooting that apparently stemmed from a drug deal on the west side of downtown.
Police say 31-year-old Richard Warner and 29-year-old Austin Herring booked Sunday on suspicion of criminal homicide.
Detectives located Herring in Bluffdale and Warner in West Valley City two days after Warner allegedly shot a man in the area of 563 West and 200 South.
Police say they pulled up next to the victim on the sidewalk in a gold, 2014 Mazda about 4:30 p.m. Friday and made arrangements to purchase drugs.
Investigators say Herring allegedly got into the car, but Warner remained outside and shot the man with a handgun before the two fled in the car.
The victim's name has not been released.
